Here's a big two-parter for ya. The first half is our typical yuckfest with some more post-apocalyptic updates, some pre-revolutionary updates, and a trip on the Nostromo. We've got a good and a not so good beer, and "San Pedro" by Mogwai to send you off. For round two, Chris interviews Alexis Fajardo, creator of the all-age graphic novel series, Kid Beowulf. Two volumes have been released already and were a huge hit with Chris's son. Unfortunately, the third and final volume is complete but unpublished. So, Lex has launched a Kickstarter campaign to send it to the printers. It's great stuff so (pre-)buy it, already!
We celebrate the return of the "random, geeky article" discussion, we fret over our Whedon-dependence, we learn that 40 year old cheese is not only stinky...it's spendy, and we kindly request Greg Zeschuk hop on the show and share his craft beer love with us. Since there was no proper "grown ass graphic novel" segment, we present you with a "grown ass web comic" list:
- Sin Titulo - Cameron Stewart's suspense comic is just as good, if not better, then many of it's paper-pressed counterparts.
- Lackadaisy - If you liked my Blacksad recommendation, this is right up your alley.
- Dresden Codak - Aaron Diaz has a great style. Also check out his re-imagining of the Justice League.
With a our first Google+ Hangout having been a resounding success (meaning people actually showed up and were cool, to boot), the guys hit the microphones with renewed vim and vigor. Video gaming season is here so Jeff and Chris chime in on the Wii U's potential, Chris talks about Darwyn Cooke's New Frontier, and we unleash the Kraken which is good in pretty much all drinks except one. We'll see if you are sharp enough to figure it out.
As the sports season hits a satisfying peak for Jeff and the next generation of gaming consoles are just over the horizon, the fellas are starting to get giddy and prediction happy. Chris covers Saga #1 by Brian K Vaughan and Fiona Staples and The Manhattan Projects #1 by Jonathan Hickman and NickPitarra, the fellas cover a heap of craft beer, and the discussion topic for the upcoming Google+ Hangout is revealed as Chris learns a dark truth about Jeff.
In celebration of their lucky #13th show, the fellas rally around the 21 Jump Street movie, discuss their ideas for a Google+ Hangout with friends of the show, there's a renaming of Chris's comic section that just may stick, and Jeff brings us home with his first live beer tasting. Speaking of Google+, we're over there now! Add us to your circle if you want to join in on future hangouts.
